A series of three evening fundraising concerts supporting Milner Gardens to be held at the VIU Deep Bay Marine Field Station.  Gates, bar and food open at 5:00, music from 6:30-8:30.  These concerts were a huge success last year and this year we will be enlarging the food options beforehand (Menu here).Tickets available at the following locations:

July 25th Todd Butler

A contributor to CBC Radio and Television and a veteran of over twenty years of live performing as a guitarist/vocalist and comedian, TODD Butler’s skills are honed to an exquisite point. He swings easily from lambasting politicians in hilarious political parodies to interpreting the latest news stories with a twist guaranteed to entertain you with a stunning combination of musical parody, whimsical wit, outstanding musicianship, and outrageous satire.

TODD BUTLER has been guest host of CBC Radio’s Madly Off in All Directions, and has performed at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, Winnipeg Comedy Festival on CBC TV, Vancouver Comedy Festival and the Calgary Folk Festival, to name a few.

In concert, TODD  gets musical too, showing audiences why his 2003 instrumental CD, Dobro and Guitar (with Doug Cox) was picked as one of the year’s Top Ten by Acoustic Guitar Magazine.

His 2006 release, Idle Canadian, won the 2006 Vancouver Island Music Awards, CD of the Year, and he took home Song of the Year and Songwriter of the Year honors too!

August 22nd Phil Dwyer’s Adult Jazz Intensive Ensemble

The 2013 edition of the Phil Dwyer Adult Jazz Intensive comprises some of the most talented amateur jazz musicians from BC and Alberta. Professionals from all walks of life come to Vancouver Island to indulge their love of jazz and to rub shoulders with award-winning jazz great Phil Dwyer.

August 30th The Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra

The Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra plays your favourites tunes, from classics to pops, to ragtime to showtunes. Hummable ditties, toe-tapping tunes and soaring melodies from Vivaldi to Broadway will reconnect you with some of the world’s greatest music. The strings of the NCO bring you the most recognizeable music from the concert hall, radio, television and stage.
