#VIUWhale update – more than 100 bones sold!

Enthusiasm for our whale project is picking up speed and as of today we have sold 112 bones to individuals and companies who are now partners in this exciting project. Above- a shot from when we prepped the whale carcass for burial in 2010That is great news! It means that we are more than 70% of the way to our financial goal of $75,000 to prepare the skeleton of our Grey Whale for display at the Field Station.   If you are interested in becoming a partner in the project buy purchasing a bone for display or making any other tax deductible donation towards this project we would love to chat with you and you can make donations online here.  All donations greater than $20 are tax deductible.

We are now making preparations to exhume the bones and will be continuing the project at the Field Station as we enter cleaning and degreasing phases.  We are keeping a photo album on Flickr here.   Stay Tuned 🙂
