Help us choose our 2014 T-Shirt! Update we have a winner! Ferryn Nowatzi

Help support the Field Station and art students by voting for this year’s 2014 (Second) Annual T-shirt design destined to become a collector’s item!

Visual Arts Professor Gregory Ball  and his great Arts 295 Printmaking 2 students did a class competition for this years T-shirt that we will sell to support public education at the Field Station.  We’re going to give the winner a $150 gift certificate for art supplies at the VIU bookstore, plus fame and glory!

We picked our favourite designs and have them below (in no particular order).  Take a look and give us your opinion by VOTING in the POLL at the BOTTOM OF THE POST.  You can click on any design to view it larger.  Contest closes at 1630 Friday April 25  !  We’ll announce results Monday Morning the 28th!  Thanks for playing!

Wildlife Art Show: From Fin to Feather – Art from the Shores of the Salish Sea

In anticipation of the arrival of the herring, there is a tangible increase in energy and diversity of wildlife within our coastal waters and shore-lined forests. Come view and invest your appreciation of local Salish Sea artists as they capture the essence of this exciting yearly event within their realms of clay, paint, metal, glass and wood.

Art will be for sale and include a public judging contest.

We’re thrilled to have world renowned Vancouver Island wood sculptor Douglas J Fisher deliver an energizing 90 minute interactive presentation that will explore ideas, inspiration and creativity! You don’t need to be an artist to enjoy and benefit from this stimulating session! We all need ideas, inspiration and creativity in the art of living every day, no matter what you do!

Celebrated around the world for his thought-provoking and inspiring works of art, Doug’s work is described as ‘timeless art that touches the soul’, combining artistic vision with superb craftsmanship. His unique style of wood turned sculptures are instantly recognizable, exhibited internationally, and resides in private collections around the world.

An entertaining presenter, Doug is regularly invited to lecture and demonstrate around the globe, and we’re delighted to have the privilege of having Doug right here in our (and his) own ‘backyard’, Deep Bay!
